If you are like many people with braces, you struggle to floss between your teeth. This is likely because the appliance gets in the way or because you dislike that flossing takes longer than usual now that you’re aligning your teeth. Either way, flossing is still very important because it helps you maintain a top-notch smile that is free from major dental issues. So, to make flossing a bit easier when you have braces our orthodontists have some tips for you, which are:
-Use waxed floss: Waxed floss is one of the easier products to use because it has a waxy coating. The waxy coating makes it possible to slide the floss into tightly knit places and around the appliance without breaking easily.
-Use floss threaders: Floss threaders are loop-shaped tools that thread the floss easily under the braces wires. This can cut time off your flossing routine and it can help you avoid the frustration of threading the floss on your own, which we all know can be quite irritating.
-Use a water flosser: A water flosser can wash your teeth, gums and braces properly and conveniently. The tip of the flosser wand will spray water into the spaces between the teeth and along the gumline to remove food particles, plaque and bacteria from the area. You don’t even need to use floss to clean your smile!
