straighten-your-teeth-as-an-adult

At any time in the United States, approximately 50 percent of the orthodontic patients are adults. More people are opting to straighten their teeth later in life. But before moving ahead, you need to have a conversation with our orthodontist, Dr Sellke & Reily to make sure that you are choosing the best option for you. There are some conditions that affect adults that are not factors for young people.

For example, as an adult, your jawbones have stopped growing and have hardened. Because of that, it may take longer for your orthodontics to do their job. Adults are more prone to gingivitis than young people, and if you have that condition, it may need to be addressed before starting a course of treatment. Adults are more likely to have had teeth removed over the years. The spaces that are left behind may not be suitable spots for your teeth to move into as they shift.
