How do braces work?

Braces utilize brackets and wires held in place by small elastic bands to move teeth. They are durable and often colorful: the elastic bands can be changed at every adjustment for a different look. Braces require regular appointments at our practice at about every 6-12 weeks along with weekly Dental Monitoring scans at home.

Types of braces we offer

Traditional metal braces

Braces work by straightening your smile through the use of metal brackets and archwires held in place by small elastic bands. The small, metal brackets are attached to the surface of your teeth with the archwire connecting them.

Aligner Treatment

Thanks to Invisalign® treatment, you can enjoy a fully transparent smile solution. This treatment option uses a series of clear removable aligners that straighten your teeth comfortably and accurately.

LightForce® braces

The LightForce brackets are transparent braces that are custom-made to fit your teeth perfectly and are more discreet than metal braces.

What to expect with Braces:

  • Consultation: During the free consultation, our orthodontist will examine you or your child’s teeth and prescribe a personalized treatment plan. We will present affordable payment options and we will work with you to create a customized payment plan that fits your budget.
  • Customization: Should you decide to start treatment, we will begin by taking digital scans of you or your child’s teeth to develop a customized treatment plan by our orthodontic specialist.
  • Treatment start and process: Start to finish can last anywhere from 10-24 months. Most people want a beautiful smile, and while that’s certainly our goal for you, a healthy, stable bite is of equal importance. We all have just one set of permanent teeth to last us a lifetime! We want your teeth to be the best they can be for your overall health and wellness, and we’re here to help you achieve the best. Remember to schedule your routine checkups with your family dentist. It is recommended that you continue to visit the dentist every six months, even while wearing braces.
  • Treatment maintenance: Once we’ve achieved your simply spectacular smile! We will remove the braces and make custom retainers. A clear, removable upper retainer worn 10-12 hours at night and a lower bonded retainer to the back of the six lower front teeth, making it impossible for others to see.

iTero Scanner

The iTero Digital Scanner is a small wand-like device that helps us capture precise 3D images by taking thousands of images of the teeth and gums within three minutes. This allows us to make prescriptions fully customizable to your smile using the accurate images of the scanner.

i-Cat Imaging

The i-CAT® Cone Beam 3D Dental Imaging System gives us high-quality images of you or your child's teeth, jaws, jaw joints, and supporting bone which is instrumental for diagnosing, evaluating and planning treatment. One of the many advantages of 3D cone beam technology is that it provides us with a view of the mouth and supporting structures that is more comprehensive than that provided by digital X-rays, with less exposure than traditional X-rays.
